Project briefing meeting on the initiative 'Employment generation of coastal ultra-poor communities through integrated fish farming and processing and marketing value-added fishery products (fish, crabs, safe dried fish, etc.).'

On 17-20 February 2022 from the 'Integrated Agriculture Unit' of PKSF, Mr. A.M. Farhaduzzaman, Manager (Program), Mahadi Hasan Osman, Assistant Manager (Fisheries), Md. Suzan Khan, Assistant Manager (Fisheries), and Md. Neamul Hasan Shovon, Assistant Manager (Fisheries) verified the feasibility of undertaking 'Blue Economy' and 'Fisheries' related initiatives under the 'LIFT' program and the 'Innovation Fund' of the Prosperity Project during a field visit to Charfashan Upazila, the working area of the 'Poribar Unnayon Songstha (FDA).' During the visit, vast areas of implementation of activities such as the expansion of quality dried fish production technology, expansion of tilapia, pangasius, shing, magur, etc. fish farming by renovating fallen ponds, expansion of seaweed farming techniques, the establishment of mobile fish product sales centers in the Upazila were observed

In the continuation of this later in favor of the subsidiary organization 'Poribar Unnayon Songstha (FDA)' under the PPEPP project of PKSF for the implementation of the initiative 'Employment generation of coastal ultra-poor communities through integrated fish farming and processing and marketing value-added fishery products (fish, crabs, safe dried fish, etc.)' is provided.

Later on, last September 26, 2022, a project briefing meeting of the initiative was held with the technical officials concerned with the implementation of the initiative, the management officials of the organization, the officials of the Upazila Fisheries Department, the chairmen of the Union Parishad of the concerned work area, local fish farmers, representatives of feed and aqua medicine companies and other stakeholders. In the meeting, the context of undertaking the initiative, objectives, target population, implementation strategy, desired results, etc., were briefed by the PKSF representative.

The Executive Director of FDA, Md. Kamal Uddin presided over the project briefing meeting. Besides, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Mr. Maruf Hossain Minar and Upazila Marine Fisheries Officer Mr. Saidur Rahman were present. Also present among the public representatives of the concerned working areas were Md. Alamgir Hossain, Chairman, Nilkomal Union, Abul Hashem Mahajan, Chairman, Char Kukri-Mukri Union and Press Club President, Md. Shafiullah Howlader, Chairman, Charmanika Union. From the PKSF level, Mr. Md. Musharrof Hossain, AGM (Program), and Mr. Md. Suzan Khan, Assistant Manager (Fisheries), gave a speech on the implementation strategy of the initiative. In the meeting, two separate power point presentations were given on the overall activities of the Prosperity Project and the budget for the new fisheries initiative. Everyone present at the meeting participated in the free discussion.
